Lazy K Ranch Shannon E. Carr, B.A. Equine Manager & Riding Instructor
Shannon Carr is very pleased to be working with Rocky Mountain Horses and the wonderful people at the fabulous Lazy K Ranch. She has been an equine enthusiast since the age of five, when Santa Claus brought Coco Puff, a very special pony. Active in the Campbell County 4-H Saddle-Up Club as a youth, she subsequently had a successful show record in the Hunter/Jumper, and American Quarter Horse Association show circuits. In addition, she has had classical dressage training at classical dressage training in New Richmond Ohio. She also has a winning record on her god-mother’s gaited Spotted Mountain Horse. Her cross-disciplinary training and experiences have provided Shannon with a unique skill set for riding and equine instruction. Shannon has taught riding lessons and trained horses at Esprit Farm, Saddle Lake Equestrian Center, Campbell Lodge Boys Home, and Sprinkle Farms. Shannon also had a winning career in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) circuit. During her undergraduate studies at the University of Cincinnati, Shannon served as president of the Equestrian Team where she helped lead a dramatic increase in funding and membership. She represented both the UC Hunt Seat (equitation) and Western (horsemanship and reining) teams in the highest ranked, “open” IHSA divisions. She won numerous championships and high point awards, qualifying to compete at the prestigious IHSA National Competition twice, taking home the fourth place ribbon in 2010. Shannon looks forward to sharing her passion of the equestrian sport with you.
